Andrea Padova si è imposto all’attenzione della critica internazionale con la sua vittoria al Concorso Pianistico Internazionale "J.S.Bach" nel 1995, e da allora è unanimemente indicato come "uno dei più importanti interpreti contemporanei di Bach al pianoforte" (Mainzer Allgemeine Zeitung).
Nato nel 1962, ha studiato Pianoforte con Vincenzo Vitale, Aldo Ciccolini ed Eric Larsen e Composizione con Gino Marinuzzi e Franco Donatoni, diplomandosi presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma.
Ha in seguito approfondito lo studio delle prassi esecutive del XVIII secolo e degli strumenti dell’epoca, fra cui clavicordo e fortepiano, affrontando allo stesso tempo, sotto la guida di Walter Blankenheim, il problema dell’esecuzione di Bach sullo strumento moderno.
È stato premiato in altri concorsi internazionali, sia come pianista ("J.Hofmann" - USA etc.) sia come compositore ("A.Casella" dell’Accademia Chigiana di Siena).
Dopo il suo debutto a New York e a Washington è stato immediatamente reinvitato a suonare nella Stagione di Musica da Camera della Carnegie Hall (1998) e alla Phillips Collection di Washington (2000).
Andrea Padova incide per Stradivarius. I suoi CD hanno ottenuto riconoscimenti da critici come Piero Rattalino e Harold C. Schonberg, che gli ha riconosciuto "una forte personalità, convinzione, libertà, stile".
Il suo secondo CD, dedicato alle Fantasie di Bach, è stato segnalato dalla rivista "CD Classica" come uno dei tre migliori dischi pianistici del 1997, insieme ad Andras Schiff e Murray Perahia ("Best of 1977" - Riccardo Risaliti).

Andrea Padova hat durch den ersten Preis beim Johann Sebastian Bach-Wettbewerb 1995 die Aufmerksamkeit der internationalen Kritik gewon-nen. Seit damals wird er einstimmig als "einer der wichtigsten zeitgenossischen Interpreten Bachs am Klavier" (Mainzer Allgemeine Zeitung) bezeichnet.
Padova wurde 1962 geboren und studierte Klavier bei Vincenzo Vitale, Aldo Ciccolini und Eric Larson sowie Komposition bei Gino Marinuzzi und Franco Donatoni. Sein Diplom erwarb Padova an der Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rom. Es folgten weitere Studien in der Aufführungspraxis des 18. Jahrhunderts und alter Instrumente, darunter Clavichord und Fortepiano, während er sich zusätzlich in Kyrsen mit Walter Blankenheim der interpretation Bach’scher Klavierwerke auf dem heutigen instrument widmete.
Andrea Padova erhielt Preise als Pianist ("J. Hofmann-Wettbewerb" – USA etc.) und als Komponist ("A. Casella-Wettbewerb" – Accademia Chigiana di Siena, "Wiener Wettbewerb für Neue Musik").

Prize-winner in other internationals competitions, both as pianist ("J.Hofmann", "Ibla Grand Prize", "V.Bellini") and composer ("A.Casella" - Accademia Chigiana di Siena, "Wiener Wettbewerb fur neue Musik") he has given recitals in Italy, France, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Canada and the United States.
In 1993 he was awarded the Berti Fellowship of the North Carolina School of the Arts, which gave him the opportunity to dedicate himself to the reconstruction of some of Bach’s fragments, which he subsequently recorded for inclusion in his first CD. About this recording, Harold C. Schonberg described Padova’s playing as providing "a strong personality, conviction, freedom, and style".
His second CD, released on the Stradivarius label and dedicated to the first complete recording of Bach’s Fantasias, was declared by the magazine "CD Classica" to be one of the three best piano recording releases of 1997 ("Best of 1997"- Riccardo Risaliti).
After his New York (Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall) and Washington (Phillips Collection) debuts, the critics praised his "extraordinary gifts...pulsating interpretation...modern and vibrating conception". About his Washington recital, which included Bach’s Goldberg Variations, The Washington Post wrote "the pianist Andrea Padova turns sound into poetry. His virtuosity, sensitively managed, resounds through every measure".
