| Lettera in inglese (quattro pagine di piccolo formato) a una certa Dorothy (Rich) su cui non ho trovato notizie. È stata scritta il 14 aprile 1911 a bordo della nave (America) che riportava Busoni in Europa, dopo il terzo viaggio in America. Sulla nave c'erano Gustav e Alma Mahler, amici di Busoni. Nella lettera scrive tra l'altro:
«In the last days news troubled me and at my arrival I will home to decide (with a most serious responsability) for the way which my life has to enter definitively. The state of things, as it has been for the past, is further untenable.» Allude poi a un testo in francese «La petite épingle» che Dorothy gli ha mandato ma che non gli è giunto in tempo. Menziona poi un certo Mr. Rich che sembrerebbe stretto parente (forse padre) di Dorothy. |
