Franz Welser-Möst erhält den Musical America Award 'Conductor of the Year 2003'. Der österreichische Dirigent, Musikdirektor des Cleveland Orchestra sowie erster Dirigent der Zürcher Oper, wird am 10. Dezember diesen Jahres bei einer feierlichen Zeremonie in der Carnegie Hall in New York von Musical America mit dem Preis ausgezeichnet.
Preisträger waren bisher unter anderem Christoph von Dohnányi, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Valery Gergiev und Kent Nagano.
Franz Welser-Möst, music director of the Cleveland Orchestra, will be honored today at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York. Welser-Möst has been named CONDUCTOR OF THE YEAR FOR 2003 by the Musical America International Directory of the Performing Arts. Other recipients this year are the Kronos Quartet, Musicians of the Year; Tan Dun, Composer of the Year; percussionist Evelyn Glennie, Instrumentalist of the Year; and soprano Deborah Voigt, Vocalist of the Year.

Franz Welser-Möst is set to receive the prestigious artist of the year award from musical america.
